Tillamook to Lincoln City, OR

Today was a long wet 50 mile day with two large climbs. The day started out as a typical day and then just as the tents were  down it started to rain. It rained off and on all morning. Sometimes it drizzled and other times it came down harder. Unfortunately in addition to the rain it was cold. It ranged from the high 50s to the low 60s which made it necessary to frequently put on and take off our rain jackets depending upon whether we were climbing at 5 mph or going downhill at 30 mph. According to my GPS we climbed about 3000 feet today. We had only done 28 miles when we stopped for lunch in Pacific City, OR. It was tempting to stay their for the night in light of the weather. However, we made a reservation at a motel in Lincoln City and then rode another 22 miles. I ended up wearing leg warmers, arm warmers, a second shirt over my jersey and a helmet cover and i was still a little cold in addition to being wet. We ran into 2 guys from the UK who are cycling from Seattle to San Francisco. We also met two women cyclists heading down the coast. I think they were from Australia. We have been meeting more touring cyclists as we head south down the coast. I think we are about 250 miles from the CA border. The weather report for tomorrow shows no rain ☺
