A few bike adjustments were needed so we stopped at a bike shop in Fairhaven which took up some time so another short day - about 42 miles. I had a slightly bent disk brake rotor and my gearing needed some small adjustments. Terrain varied from beautiful views of Puget Sound to some long stretches of flat farmland. After leaving Fairhaven we did a bit of climbing through a beautiful forested area along the coast. We also rode across a large valley and at one point we rode on a bike path which looked like it was built on a earthen dike system that kept the salt water away from the farmland on the other side. Had the 1st flat just a few miles from our ending point. We ended up camping at Deception Pass state park which is near the Naval Air Station on Whidbey Island. The park campground was full but they have some hiker/biker sites just for people arriving on foot or via a bicycle. A few hours ago military jets started low flying maneuvers which have been going on now for at least 4 hours. It sounds like we are being attacked. It is so loud at times that it is hard to hear someone 5 feet away. Hopefully, this won't go on all night!!
