Today was a relatively easy 45 mile day overall. A few hills in the morning on Seven Devils road which had 2 substantial hills followed by 5 moderate hills. Took a break after 20 miles at a laudromat to do a full wash of everything. Tonight we are staying at a nice KOA campground. Just waiting for the dryer to finish - we washed our riding clothes from today so we have 3 sets of clean riding clothes. Camping next to Heidi and Kelly the mother-daughter couple we have been seeing on and off over the past week. Tomorrow we should hit the point on the Oregon coast that is the western - most point of the continental U.S.
Bicycling along the Pacific Coast of the U.S. on a recumbent bike. The trip went from the Canadian border to the Mexican boarder

Florence to Charleston, OR
This post is for wednesday - no cell service last night so I had to post this a day late. 55 mile day along some beautiful coastline. Had a nice headwind in the morning and probably for at least 90% of the day. We passed huge sand dunes along the beach. In places the dunes appeared to have trapped water and created lakes which were only separated from the ocean by the dunes. In North Bend, OR we crossed a bridge across Coos Bay and we were hit with amazingly strong winds. Camped in the hiker/biker site at Sunset State park with at least 10 other bikers. We are seeing a lot of the same people each night who are heading south. One couple were riding a tandem and heading north. I think they were the first touring cyclists we have seen who were heading north along the coast. Below is a picture of a drive thru espresso stand. We have seen these everywhere in the northwest.
