Today ended up being a very short 28 mile day. We got a late start in the morning followed by a lot of climbing. We stopped for lunch in Seaside, OR which is an interesting resort town on the Pacific Ocean. After lunch we decided to make it a short day so we could set up camp and do wash, etc. After some more climbing we stopped at a campground in Cannon Beach, OR. Hopefully, we can go to sleep early so we can get an early start tomorrow morning. I think we have less than 400 miles to the CA border. The change in the weather since we reached Astoria on the Columbia River is remarkable. Inland in WA we usually had blue sky and temps ranging from 85 to 97 degrees with virtually no humidity. In contrast, on the coast temps have been in the low 60s with an overcast sky and high humidity. It was actually very cold coasting down some of the big hills. We even had some off and on drizzling. The temp is supposed to go down to the 50s tonight. While I am writing this I am sitting outside watching a very fat white rabbit munching on the grass. The rabbit doesn't seem to mind people because I got within 2 feet and it didn't react or stop rating. We have started running into more touring cyclists recently who are headed to a variety of places. Below is a view of the beach in Cannon Beach right after sundown.
