Capitola to Monterey, CA

Saturday, 8/1 - 43 miles. Much of today involved riding through farm country in a large valley along the coast. Acres and acres of strawberries, artichokes and other crops I couldn't identify. Later in the day we followed quite a few miles of bike paths along the ocean. However, we generally couldn't see the ocean because of the sand dunes bordering the shore. Many of the sand dunes were the size of small mountains. Monterey beach looked like an interesting place. We thought about a motel or hotel in Monterey but virtually everything was booked which wasn't a surprise  since it was Saturday night. We are camping in a hiker/biker campsite tonight at a Monterey city park. The park wasn't supposed to have showers but it turned out it did have showers. We originally were going to set up camp and ride back to town for dinner but the campsite turned out to be on top of a large climb. Luckily someone else at the campsite knew of a pizza place that delivered so we ordered food.
